Family adventure "Forest and games"
"Forest and Games" experience is crafted as an engaging family experience with a hike to the historic ruins of the Fridrihštajn Castle and along the Lynx educational trail, acclaimed as the best thematic trail of 2023.
The immersive program consists of family team-building with games and animation, learning about the forest, looking for and learning about the tracks of wild animals in the forest, adventure orientation at the Fridrihštajn castle and a forest picnic at the end of the experience. The program includes many games, tastings, challenges and tasks you will get to solve together.

Package description:
- you will go on a guided hike from Kočevje with an experienced local guide,
- you will visit the local beekeeper, learn about beekeeping and taste honey products,
- you will get to know the forest and its inhabitants,
- you will follow the signs of the presence of wild animals in the forest and create imprints of wild animals,
- you will get to know karst caves and cave animals and visit the Medvedja jama (Bear Cave),
- you will get to camouflage yourself with camouflage paints and transform into forest detectives,
- you will learn how to set up your bivouac from natural materials,
- you will visit the ruins of Fridrihštajn Castle,
- you will learn to determine the directions of the sky and have fun hunting for treasures while orienteering in nature,
- at Koča pri Jelenovem studencu you will have time for rest and refreshment,
- you will go on a hike to the Lynx educational trail, that was pronounced as the best thematic trail of 2023 and learn about our largest and rarest representative of cats - the lynx,
- you will have immense fun at forest games and joint task solving.
Program schedule:
Your adventure begins at Hostel Bearlog,where you will meet our experienced local guide who will animate and accompany you throughout the journey. The first stop is at a local beekeeper's, where you will learn about beekeeping and enjoy a honey tasting.
Next, you'll visit Medvedja jama (Bear Cave), where you'll experiment with camouflaging using natural materials like leaves and ferns. While exploring the cave's entrance, you'll transform into true forest detectives and enjoy forest games on your way to Fridrihštajn Castle. Along the trail, you'll create prints of wild animal tracks from the Kočevsko forests and learn how to use forest materials to build a bivouac. Throughout the journey, the guide will share fascinating facts about the forest animals and point out the traces these wild inhabitants leave in their natural environment.
Upon arriving at the ruins of the once-mighty Fridrihštajn Castle, you will delve into the captivating story of the forbidden love between Frederik II, Count of Celje, and Veronika of Desenice. Here, you'll engage in orienteering as you hunt for treasure, all while enjoying a stunning view of the town of Kočevje.
The final stop is at Koča pri Jelenovem studencu, where you'll conclude the adventure with a delightful forest picnic.
