A three-day experience of the Roška Hiking Trail (guided)

Length of the hike: 64 km (19 km first day, 27 km second day, 18 km third day)

Package description:

• upon arrival the guide will present you the program of the hike,
• early in the morning after breakfast you will set off on a 19 km long hike,
• you will visit Lake Kočevsko and Gottschee villages,
• you will visit the forest reserve Pugled - Žiben,
• you will end the day with dinner by the campfire at the bivouac shelter on Luža,
• the next day you will continue your hike to the heart of Kočevski Rog,
• you will see the Rog Sawmill,
• you will continue along the edge of the Rajhenavski forest to the Queen of Rog,
• you will end the day with dinner and socializing on the farm Rajhenav,
• on the last day you will visit the forest reserve Prelesnik Collapse Valley,
• you will have time for rest and a snack at Lovski vrh,
• you will end the hike at the Bearlog Hostel.

Schedule:

We have breakfast at the hostel early on Friday morning. After breakfast, the group with the guide sets off on a hike that leads past Lake Kočevje towards Pugled, which represents the remains of one of the oldest Gottschee villages. Here the guide introduces us to cultural and natural sights. Just a few steps further we enter the first forest reserve Pugled - Žiben, a beautiful example of a desolated cultural landscape, older than 400 years. Here we stop to rest and have time for a snack. After this refreshment, we continue our way towards the bivouac shelter on Luža, which is our final stop on the first day. We use the evening time for socializing and dinner by the campfire.

After breakfast on Saturday, we continue our hike into the heart of Kočevski Rog, until we reach the highest point at an altitude of 1099 m. Here we can climb to a lookout point from where we admire the grandeur of the forest, as far as the view can see. From there, we descend towards Rog Sawmill, where we see the once largest sawmill in the area of ​​the wider Kočevsko region. Here we have time to rest and have a warm snack. Only a few steps further, we enter the edge of the Rajhenavski Rog primeval forest, where under the canopy of a few hundred years old giants we admire a forest that is managed only by nature. We continue past the Queen of Rog, the largest fir tree in Kočevski Rog (reaching 50 meters in height), towards the farm Rajhenav, where we finish the hike. There dinner will be waiting for us, followed by socializing and sleeping.

We start the day on Sunday with fresh coffee and a rich farm breakfast. After breakfast we continue with the hike that leads us from Rajhenav towards the forest reserve - Prelesnik Collapse Valley, which is a real natural peculiarity. It is known for its original spruce primeval forest, due to the thermal reversal. From there we continue towards Lovski vrh, where we are greeted by a picturesque view. Here we rest and have a snack. We continue past Onek towards Kočevje. In the afternoon we return to the Bearlog Hostel, which is the final point of our hike.

- transportation of luggage, food and water to Koča na Luži (first overnight stop)
- meals (3x snacks of local delicacies, 2x dinner, 2x breakfast)
- sleeping in a cabin on Luža and the Rajhenav farm
